The recession, ambition, and Rodan + Fields

After my husband’s job loss in 2009, we thought we’d make the best of it. As we sold our belongings, we told ourselves we didn’t need things. As we marketed our lovely home, we told ourselves we didn’t need such a large house.  As we pulled our kids out of Montessori schools, we told ourselves we didn’t need private schools.

It was true, and we readjusted, but after several years I realized that becoming too comfortable with less was shrinking my life, my ambition, my goals for the future. I wanted to celebrate my anniversary with a trip to the Galapagos Islands. I wanted to send my kids to the best college I could. I wanted to give them music lessons and opportunities to explore the world. I wanted to spoil my husband with extravagant gifts for his birthday.

Sitting in my home, being happy with less, just wasn’t cutting it.

You, my dear reader, know I love health and fitness. It is an industry that gives purpose to my life: my experiences helping others become strong, fit, and pain-free gives me true joy. The problem is, though, that this time and materials model wasn’t working. The money was too unpredictable and, even in the best of circumstances, could barely pay the bills.

Enter Rodan + Fields. This opportunity, working with some of the best and the brightest, helping people get beautiful skin, was it. This filled the gap. And here is how.
